    Discover the Verdon Canyon

Located between the Var and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments, in the foothills of the Alps, Verdon Canyon is the portion of the Verdon River between Castellane and the Lake of Sainte-Croix. This section, which stretches for about fifteen kilometers, is of extraordinary beauty. The gorges are narrow and steep (up to 700 m deep) and the geological formations carved out by the erosion are magnificent. This canyon dug out by the river is so beautiful that people say that the Verdon Gorges are the most beautiful canyon in Europe. You have been warned! Camping and the Verdon Regional Natural Park: when you hear these words, think of the exceptional holiday that awaits you at the 5-star La Farigoulette campsite in the Verdon.

Our location at La Farigoulette makes the campsite an ideal starting point to visit many magnificent sites in the Verdon Regional Natural Park. So during your stay, it is very easy to explore these gorgeous places.

    The lakes

In the Verdon Regional Natural Park, you can enjoy many lakes, in addition to the very famous Lake of Sainte-Croix.

    • The Lake of Esparron

This lake, near Gréoux-les-Bains, located less than half an hour from the campsite, is easily accessible by car. You can swim, rent an electric boat, canoe, fish, or go hiking or mountain biking.

    • The Lake of Quinson

This lake is less well-known than the famous Lake of Sainte-Croix or the Lake of Esparron, so it is less busy. You will love both the scenery and the peace and quiet. There is a water sports center on-site where you can rent all the equipment you will need for a boat ride. Around the lake, there are small grassy areas that are perfect for a family picnic. An ideal spot for a breath of fresh air. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you can take the garde-canal trail, a 9 km walk with a very pretty view of the lower Verdon Gorges.

Activities in the Verdon Regional Natural Park

In the Verdon Regional Natural Park, you can hike (Martel and Imbut Trails), ride horses or mountain bikes, enjoy water sports (canoeing & kayaking, rafting, canyoning, swimming upstream) and go paragliding, bungee jumping, fishing, spelunking or rock climbing. A water sports center offers activities on the Lake of Sainte-Croix such as sailing.
